Ethical Hacker and Security Researcher
So my name is Arron, some of you may know me as finux. I've been working in computer-security research and consultancy for over a decade now. You might have seen me discussing a range of different things at many different conferences. I've spoken on subjects such as privacy, and security, as well as histroy, and technology. I'm also the co-founder of the BSidesHamburg/HamburgSides security-conference.
I've produced over 100 security related podcasts over the years. This has allowed me to interview countless security professionals as part of the Finux Tech Weekly Whenever podcast. I've also featured on quite a few podcasts in that time too. As an ethical-hacker I've also denoted a lot of time to helping members of the general-public who wish to better understand the many security risks and threats that the may face on the internet today. In Germany I've helped organised at least a dozen crypto-parties (think, a public-meeting with an ethical-hacker to answer questions and give advice).
During my time at The University of Abertay Dundee I was awarded the SICSA Student Open Source Award for for 'Advocacy of Free and Open Source Software' for my work whilst I was President of The UAD Linux Society. Advocacy of Open-Source, Libre and Free-Software is something still very close to my heart even today.
I'm currently Chief Technical Officer for business-diplomacy consultancy, where I oversees the technical and security requirements of the business. I'm also responsible for delivering security consultations and advice to a number of businesses. I've helped many organisations around the world to better develop their security posture, and mitigating cyber attacks.
